This was the second time I saw the Deftones. It was a lot better than
the first. They played between Slayer and Rob Zombie. They had a new
backdrop, it was all red with a white pony and a white star on it. As
soon as they hit the stage, they started a new song. I guess it'll be
on the next album, they didn't say a name for it, but it was awesome.
The second song was the Depeche Mode cover To Have And To Hold. Chino
played guitar at the end of the song while Stephen played the solo.
After To Have And To Hold they went almost directly into Lotion, which
was one of the best songs of the evening. Then they played My Own Summer
and dedicated it to the people on the lawn. Next was Root, it is just an
altogether great song. Then they played Bored, Nosebleed and another new
song that was a bit mellower than the first one.
Chino talked to the crowd for a few minutes and then started Around The Fur
and everyone went crazy. After that they played Be Quiet And Drive and
finished the set with Headup. It was a great show even though they didn't
play 7 Words or Engine No. 9. I can't wait until they come back through.
