I'm Tony, and I was lucky enough to see the Deftones at the Houston show
on Nov. 10/98 at the International Ballroom. The ballroom wasn't the best place
to have a concert, but the show made up for it.Pitshifter opened, followed
by quicksand.pitshifter was great on stage, but quicksand was kinda
lame. Deftones came on about 9:00 PM and the crowd went wild. they opened
with My Own Summer, and the place practically turned into one big mosh
pit.
It continued to stay that way, with every song played the crowd got more
and more hyped. The best part was when Chino sang 7 Words, he climbed onto
the speakers to sing it. After it was over, he dove off into the
crowd. That made the crowd go bilistic. I was lucky enough to touch him
(heh, I tryed to get his shoe) on the way back to the stage, he landed on
my cousin and the crowded knocked him down and stepped on him, but he
loved it too.
When he sang Enigine No. 9, he requested the circle mosh (something I had
never seen before) and that's what he got. Every one started running in a
big circle while he screamed the lyrics to the song. Finally, a little
before 11, he closed it out with Headup, letting the crowd assist him
with the chorus. It was by far the greatest concert I have ever been to
and I can't wait until they come around again.
